FAQ

What do your services include?

I plan and customize each client’s meal plan, grocery shop for all the ingredients, prepare and cook the meals, package and store the meals, clean the kitchen post-cooking, and leave reheating instructions for each meal. Most of my clients request dinner meals to last through the week but I can also prepare breakfast, snack, lunch, and baked goods. I am also available to cater small, private events in your home, such as open houses, cocktail parties and friendly get-togethers.

Do you prepare the meals in my home?

Yes, in accordance with current Michigan Food Law and Health Department regulations, I must prepare all meals in your home.

Do I have to be home on my scheduled cook date?

No, it’s not necessary for you to be home when I arrive to cook. Many clients opt to work out different arrangements for me to gain access inside when they’re not home. We can work out the logistics of this after we’ve gone through preliminary talks.

How long have you been in business?

I officially began in November 2011 but I’ve been cooking for people as long as I can remember.

What are your rates?

It depends. I work individually with all my clients and the price structure can vary based on the kind of meal plan they seek. Contact me at Stephanie [at] okiedokieartichokie [dot] com and we can work out a personalized quote.

What counties do you serve?

I currently only serve Washtenaw County.

Can I hire you to cook for me on an occasional basis?

Yes, I am usually available to cook for clients that need help every now and again. I am also available to cater small parties and get-togethers. All cook dates and events must be booked at least two weeks prior to ensure availability and provide adequate planning time.

My family has very particular food needs. I like to eat healthful foods and my husband likes spicy foods. Will you be able to cook meals that fit these criteria?

Of course! Each client has a custom-tailored menu plan that highlights all the things they love minus the things they don’t. Special requests like vegetarian, gluten-free, low-sodium, and natural organic ingredients are easily translatable into every meal.

How do you come up with the recipes?

Many of the recipes stem from my Peruvian upbringing — a culture that has always revolved around eating and sharing good food. Some of the things I create are familial recipes handed down to me from my grandparents, others are ones I’ve imagined through the years of intense curiosity and experimentation.

Are you insured?

Yes, I own liability insurance specifically geared towards personal chefs.

Do you have a ServSafe certificate?

Yes, I hold a current ServSafe certificate which signifies the completion of my instruction and training on how to prepare foods safely to avoid food contamination.

I am interested! What’s the next step?
